When a store has been trading for years, moving it to a new platform is not a job you take lightly. Tool Saver is the trade-only wholesale side of Toolstop, selling tools and site supplies to resellers and merchants across the UK, and it has done so for a long time. We have worked with the team for years, so when they decided to move off BigCommerce, we were glad to plan and build the next chapter.
The brief was simple to say and harder to do: keep everything that makes Tool Saver work for the trade, and move it onto a platform that is faster to run and easier to grow.
A big move, done carefully
The hardest part of any migration is the data, and Tool Saver has a lot of it. A large product catalogue, trade accounts, pricing and order history all had to come across cleanly. We mapped it from BigCommerce, moved it to Shopify, and checked it so nothing was lost along the way.
Built for the trade
A trade store is not a normal shop. Buyers need wholesale pricing, bulk ordering, credit terms and quick reordering, and they need it to work on the trade counter as well as the office desk. We rebuilt all of that on Shopify, on a platform that is quicker to manage and ready to scale.
The result
